This UX case study explores the redesign of Boutique Homes—a platform that empowers owners and travelers to share their love for beautiful homes, perfectly small hotels, thoughtful design, and enriching travel experiences.
Guided by the mission to enrich travel through design, we began the project with a strong research foundation, starting by sending surveys to both hosts and guests.
These insights helped us understand user needs, pain points, and desires, shaping the direction of the platform to better support discovery, connection, and curation in the travel space.
User Research Overview
Research focused on understanding hosting and guest behavior
While stakeholders emphasized a singular, business-focused goal of boosting bookings, my approach extended beyond revenue generation.
I aimed to design a user-friendly platform that would support hosts around the world with ease and clarity, while also delivering a seamless, trustworthy experience for guests.
By fostering open communication between hosts and travelers, the goal was to strike a balance between business objectives and user needs—creating a more thoughtful, human-centered platform that enriches both the hosting and guest experience globally.
The overarching approach to my design process involves an iterative journey starting with preliminary sketches, evolving into refined and sophisticated drafts, and ultimately transitioning to the creation of wireframes.
Subsequently, we seek valuable feedback from stakeholders at each stage, enabling collaborative refinement and ensuring that the final wireframes align seamlessly with the expectations and requirements of all involved parties.
With the wireframes as a guide, we got to work on the design of the website.
We kept the design clean and modern with a focus on making it easy for users to navigate and find the information they need.
We also incorporated the company's branding to give the website a cohesive look and feel.
