Huddln approached us with a bold vision: to create a decentralized social platform — a fusion of TikTok’s energy and Instagram’s visual appeal — powered by a non-custodial wallet.
As the sole design team, we embraced the challenge of stepping into the unfamiliar territory of Web3. This meant adapting traditional design principles to meet the unique demands of decentralized technology, all while navigating a steep and rewarding learning curve.
Web3 user experiences often come with friction, especially for audiences unfamiliar with NFTs. Many users may struggle to understand how to use a non-custodial wallet, complete transactions, or safeguard their crypto-assets.
The integration of blockchain technology — along with its specialized terminology — can feel intimidating and confusing to those new to the space, making it essential to design with clarity, guidance, and accessibility in mind.
Conceptualized features to solve the problem include:A Guided 3 step onboarding flow - Removes frictionA homepage featuring diverse user-generated feeds. - Personalization Gated Communities feature with channels. - Community building and trustLive stream educational material - Build user knowledgeGamified experience: incorporating a rewards system to - Encourage app participationMinting content directly from the camera, TikTok, & Instagram. - Easy minting
The features evolved into sketches. Prior to formalizing new ideas or features, my initial approach involved sketching out concepts. I carefully selected sketches that prioritized the user's end goal and enhanced their overall experience. The images showcase some sketches for our community feature and curated collections feed.
The chosen sketches were transformed into high-fidelity prototypes. Tailoring the process to each feature, every prototype underwent multiple rounds of iterations, involving close collaboration with our developer team to fine-tune both the user experience and interface.
In the second phase, the ideation stage involved sketching out various concepts and ideas. I expressed potential solutions to stakeholders through visual representations.
Following this, my focus shifted to enhancing the prototype's interactivity for comprehensive user testing. The accompanying video showcases select pages of the prototype, including the homepage, profile page, XP page, and discover page.
